Happy Sunday! My snippet this week follows last week's (and every other week
since the beginning of May), and has been pulled from my YA contemporary
romance(ish) manuscript. Dwarfed. Thanks for checking it out.
Don't forget to check out the snippets the other great writers participating
in this week's Six Sentence Sunday.
“If the sow lays down long
enough, there's a chance your piglet can eat,” Luke says, his voice still
shaking with the last dregs mirth.
I can't imagine a worse
situation.
“Your
skirt is trashed.”
Trashed is an understatement. Between
the dirt and … other stuff, ground into the fabric, the piglets had ripped entire
chunks of material apart. Even the poorest of medieval peasants would have been
ashamed of it, they would have considered it a Badge of Shame, though I thought
it looked better some the clothes I saw the last time I flipped through a
fashion magazine.
LOL! SOOO true ;) Great six!!
ReplyDeleteHere's a couple of typos I saw (hope this makes your life easier =D)
with [the] last dregs [of] mirth
like some [of] the things
It does, thanks!
DeleteLMAO! I don't doubt that one bit!
ReplyDeleteFashion is well ranked on the list of things that baffle me.
DeleteI think the peasant look can be quite fetching... ;D
ReplyDeleteNicely done, as always!
Great six, a proper laugh out loud one. I love Grace's inner voice. She has a wonderful sense of self.
ReplyDeleteI like to think so. Thanks!
DeleteOkay, now you've got me thoroughly liking that girl: fashion magazines make no sense to me either. Gotta feel a bit bad for her, having no skirt, but Luke doesn't seem to mind, and that's what matters :D
ReplyDeleteTo me, the only thing more confusing then some of the designs is the amount of money people spend on them. The entire industry baffles me. I'm glad you like Grace!
DeleteHa! Funny, smart remark! Love the description in this six.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I read last week's post to catch up, and like how this is progressing.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's nice meeting you. I read your snippet and really enjoyed it. I loved the Godfather reference.
DeleteI still feel for her, but the situation is funny and she's handling it so well! Love the tidbit about the fasion mag! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wish I handled embarrassing situations as wells as Grace does. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI love her voice in those six.
ReplyDeleteLOL Love the last line. Great six! At least Luke's calmed down a bit and helped her.
ReplyDeleteOh I do like her sensibilities! She's so down-to-earth. Another terrific six this week, Jess!
ReplyDeleteShe is. Thanks Silver.
DeleteGrace is awesome, Jess. We know she's very calmly standing there in her lime green panties, lol, thinking very rational thoughts. :-) Nice six!
ReplyDeleteThanks. She believes that there's no point in stressing over things that she can't change. It's a point of pride for her.
DeleteWonderful take on fashion magazines. But then my wardrobe is shorts and tee-shirts in summer and slacks, tee-shirts and sweats in winter.
ReplyDeleteAdd some horse spit and carhartts, and you've just described my wardrobe. I've accepted that fashion will never be something I understand.
DeleteWhat's a girl to do? Can't wait to find out if she puts it on anyway. Nice six, Jess!
ReplyDeleteGreat six, love her thoughts about her skirt and the fashion magazines!
ReplyDeleteI like how down-to-earth (pun intended) she is about her situation. And you still have me worried about that little piglet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wanted Grace to have a level head and good sense of humor. Also, I just finished reading GIRL UNDER GLASS, and loved it. It was an amazing read.
DeleteI like how he's honest even if the skirt is messed up, but it's still kinda insulting for a man to trash-talk a woman's piece of clothing. Nice six Jess!
ReplyDeleteHmm, you have a point. I guess since he waited for it to be ruined before commenting, as opposed to saying something insulting the first time he saw the skirt, his comment isn't too insulting. Thanks Frank!
DeleteI love this character so much! Great 6!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Thanks so much!
DeleteOh my, that poor skirt! Sweet six!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that poor skirt! Sweet six!
ReplyDeleteOh, no the poor skirt! I'm enjoying your sixes with this story. :)
ReplyDeleteI think 'than' and 'of' might be needed in this sentence.
...though I thought it looked better(than)some (of) the clothes I saw the last time I flipped through a fashion magazine.
I feel so sorry or her!! Curious to know what he will do next. My interest is piqued
