This week my little snippet follows up where last week's ended.
This snippet was brought to you via my YA manuscript, DWARFED. As luck would have it, the first four sentences are on one side of a page break, while the remaining 2 were on the other.
He’s looking at the pigs, but
based on his expression he doesn’t really see them. I can practically see the
wheels spinning in his head. He must have come up with an idea, because
eventually he jerks his chin towards the door, indicating that I should follow
him. “C’mon, we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us if you’re serious about
keeping that pig.”
Luke kicks the dark blue towel
through the door and into the hallway where it joins the miniature mountain of
soggy towels. He hooks his thumbs in the pockets of his jeans and surveys the
tiny room.
The official list of the amazing writers participating in this week's Six Sentence Sunday.
If you want to know more about piglets born (farrowed) during the winter months, you should check out this post at the Righteous Bacon.
If you're new to my Sunday snippets and are completely confused, but would like to know more, I've compiled all of my snippets here.
Last, but not least, 1 sleeping piglet. I don't know about you, but I could cuddle it all day long :)
Sounds like a quest for saving a tiny piglet. I hope they will succeed.
ReplyDeleteYou really kno whow to paint a scene, Jess. You could give lessons on "show, don't tell".
ReplyDeleteWonder what Luke has up his sleeve.
Wonderful six!
Are you going to continue posting on Sundays even after SSS officially ends?
Thanks Teresa, you're so good for my confidence.
DeleteI am planning on continuing to post SSS snippets, at least for the foreseeable future. You?
Yes. And I'll probably tweet them, too. I keep waiting for someone to say they are putting together a linky-list replacement. I feel a bit too technologically inept to do it. I'd have no problem paying a hosting site, just don't have clue how to set it all up. :-)
DeleteTeresa, Skye Warren has a linky-list up on her site right now to gauge interest for continuing SSS. You might want to take a look. When I added my site to it, there were a lot of names, and it's grown since.
DeleteI love the way you show Luke thinking, but leave us wondering what his plan is. Nice physical descriptions.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteLove the way you described the scene, lovely writing!
ReplyDeleteNice scene, and, save the pig! :-)
ReplyDeleteAw...you know what, this snippet made me realize why I like this story (despite my lack of knowledge/interest in anything farm or pig related). This reminds me a bit of Fern determined to keep Wilbur in Charlotte's Web. Love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with governingana, it is reminiscent of Charlotte's Web at times, which is a very good thing. It reminds me of the innocent determination to save a weaker animal. Great six!
ReplyDeleteGreat insight into his character through his actions. Well done!
ReplyDeleteGrear description of his actions.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's got a plan and he's so sympathetic toward her. That little piggy is so, so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI still like that Luke is helping her out. :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful 6, Jess! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCurious what Luke's up to, well done!
ReplyDeleteTerrific 6. Your cadence and rhythm in every excerpt from this work is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYes, baby animals make for a lot of wet towels. Especially if mama's not taking care of them.
ReplyDeleteI like reading the description of his movements. Nice six!
ReplyDeleteGreat six, great link and great picture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little piglet! So what's in the small room, I wonder. I'm sure Grace is serious about saving the little guy.
ReplyDeleteEvidently, he's got something in mind. Good six, Jess. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's on board with her plans to save the piglet! Yay! I think she's going to need his help.
ReplyDeleteNice job this week, Jess. I especially love the "thumb-hooking" moment. That's a great image.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like they have a plan! Lovely Six! (I love the image of the piglet, they're so cute!)
