Snowflakes & Beeswax Snippet #WeWriWa 12/29/13

Here it is, the WeWriWa snippet of 2013. I don't know about you, but I'm having a difficult time wrapping my mind around the idea that the year has come to an end, though all things considered, it wasn't a bad year. I'm also excited to discover what kinds of things 2014 has in store.

This week's snippet picks up where my last snippet left off. I hope you like it. Once you've finished reading my contribution, don't forget to check out the WeWriWa linky list and check out the amazing samples a whole group of talented writers have posted. I promise, you'll be glad you did!

She loved Oliver
The realization exploded in her mind, making her heart beat a delighted tattoo against her
ribs even as her knees threatened to buckle and cold sweat raced down her back.
She squeezed her eyes shut and struggled to sort through the tangle of emotions.
She didn't want to love him. That much she was sure of. Falling in love complicated things and all she wanted, the only thing she'd ever wanted was to have a simple life. She didn't know much about Oliver, a realization that caused her mouth to go dry, but she suspected that his life was anything but simple.
The idea of having to live in London, a city full of more people than she could fully comprehend, had black spots growing in front of her eyes.

This snippet came from my Georgian novella, Snowflakes & Beeswax. If you liked this snippet, feel free to head over to Amazon and pick up a copy of the paperback or download the ebook to your Kindle!

Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Santa (in my case my wonderful dad) presented me with a kindle this year too! No more reading on my temperamental phone!! I hope you enjoy it.

I've heard truly wonderful things about London, and while I'm sure it's a great place to visit, it wouldn't be my first choice when picking a home town.

    1. Same here. I can't fathom why anyone would want to live in a big city. So many people and so much noise *shudders*

  14. That's quite a dramatic reaction to realizing how she feels. But maybe she's jumping to conclusions a bit. After all, she doesn't really know him all that well. Maybe Oliver is sick of London and wants a simpler life now that he's met her.

    Lovely eight, Jess!

  20. My goodness, that's a heck of a lot more than jitters before the wedding. I imagine every bride goes through many of these fears and that is what makes this snippet so great, it is so very real.
